OK. Big traditional pub. Very quiet (Wednesday 7:30 pm). Was the only person in restaurant. Food OK. Was beautifuly decorated over Christmas.
Staff and service really good. Wine expensive. Had the Christmas menu, starter and torte lovely, main meal extremely poor although roast potatoes were very nice.
Had a lovely meal at the ship&bell this evening. As Im gluten free, every care was taken to ensure my meal was spot on. Delicious!
If you want a great night out listening to commercial radio this is the place to be.EditHave been since and the atmosphere is much better. Good back ground music without annoying advertising. Beer is very well looked after.
Really enjoyed the meal staff lovely . Only concern it was a Friday night Ship and bell pride thier selves in been one of the best pubs for there selection of Gins .we ask 3 times for well known gin and you had run out of all of them . Also there was no lemon ,or cucumber nothing to dress the gin we had to ask for it when they came to the table with our drinks. The food great staff lovely but think you need to sort your bar staff out on how to tell people how many of your main Gins you don't have so your table staff don't keep taking our orders then they have to keep coming back and saying sorry also that they refresh them selves on how you serve Gin as Gin is a big drink at the moment . We we recommend the ship and Bell because of their Gin selection and that happen it didn't look to good .
